Experimenting with 3D Gaussian splatting for furthering 3D Enviroments

This is a collection of renders and footage of my progress update from a project where I was experimenting with using 3DGS(3D Gaussian splatting). As a means of using a real world location and populate it with my own 3D models and some from fab.

The 3D Environment is made from a lidar dtm of the real world location where I captured the splat, which I turned into a a heightfield using Houdini which I then imported into unreal and then modified using the unreal landscape tools.

In future I hope to revisit this project with greater knowledge of both 3D environmental creation and 3DGS in hopes that I could seamlessly blend the two of them.
